Just remember to have some fishes to keep the bacterial in the hospital tank if u wish to keep it cycled. Hooray for the new tank!

Or, just run the intended filter for the hospital tank in the main tank? So when required, just set up using the main tank water and move that filter over. U can save the space for the tank and the ammonia..

Likely though, if one fish gets sick, both will because they live in the same conditions/environment.

So a hospital is always a great thing to have, but you will probably have to treat both fish in the end.

i have 2 aquaclear 30's on the one 20g and have another empty 20g so if i keep adding ammonia to 4-5ppm daily should be able to just take one for each 20g if i ever need to medicate id rather medicate 2 20g than a 75g

It just seems strange to me to keep a tank running with nothing in it..

I bet in another month or 2 u will get another new friend in it! :D

Like previously stated, if you keep an extra filter running on an established tank, you can easily & quickly set up a hosp. tank for use. We had a great QT article by RTR in the Library, I'll see if we can get that posted again.
