Re: Avatar under 6k Tutorial Help
I followed the directions exactly and still can't get it under 32kb, even when I reduce it to "1," which is just some ugly pixels. Ugh, my goodness! I'm usually really good with computers and photoediting, too.

Re: Avatar under 6k Tutorial Help
Not sure if this will help, but when on the resize/resample step, change your DPI to 72.

3.94 meg. Ahuhu. When I crop & resize it to the avatar size, its about 36kb.
I will have to try that.
I will have to try that.

Re: Avatar under 6k Tutorial Help
Can we lighten the requirements? I can get it down to 8-12kb, but can't seem to get 6kb or below.

Let me adjust the tutorial, the dpi and inches are high on a lot of images.

Re: Avatar under 6k Tutorial Help
How much would it be to simply raise the minimum to 10kb?

Re: Avatar under 6k Tutorial Help
It's programmed into the forum that way.
If you make sure that your inches are also under 2, than it should work out. I used a file that was much larger in size, and even though it was set to 120 pixels, it was reading that it was 5 inches, where the other smaller file was under 2 inches at 120 pixels. It looks like 120 pixels for an avatar should be 1.67"

Re: Avatar under 6k Tutorial Help
I'm running some of the larger files through the same process, and I'm not getting any larger files than 13 KB at %100. Maybe I just don't have the epic proportions of the photographs you guys have. I don't know how to trouble shoot that because it's not happening on my computer.
Maybe it's better to use GIMP for a file that large.
*Edit:
Ok, this is something that might work for those gigantic files. Try to resize/resample the entire image first to something under 10", preferable along the 5 - 7 inches mark. Then crop the avatar area and go forth. That *should* work.

Re: Avatar under 6k Tutorial Help
Maybe it's my screen, but your original avatar didn't look like it needed anything anyway.Reaperpilot2014 wrote:There, my new, super-fuzzy, pixelated avatar. He's frowning.
I'm sorry this program didn't work for you. I put in some suggestions for larger files, but I have no way of trouble shooting since my photos aren't anything that large to begin with
