Do I really need all that for a 20g tank, damn I thought with such a small tank that I wouldnt need a skimmer or sump

Nope, you certainly don't need a sump & probably not a skimmer either, although a Backpac would work well on there. Once you see all the nasty, smelly crap a skimmer pulls out, you'll be ashamed you had anything living in that water.

That's pretty much it. You do need some flow though.

Ok, Im going to get a powerhead to put in with the filter.

Talking about the filter what is the best thing to put in the filter, media wise.

Also will poolfilter sand be ok?

No FW filters for SW, they are nitrate factories. Your LR will be the filter.

That'll work but it's gets clogged with detritus pretty quickly. It makes for good flow though until that happens.

It's believed by some cultures to strike in threes, and since it's been things getting cracked/chipped, should just be something like that. However, it does seem to be expensive things lol, but maybe just one more, according to superstition anyway.
