Hello I am new, I previously owned a F8 Puffer and now want to get a puffer for my child.
After I get done with my 55 planted I want to setup a 20gal planted puffer tank for my 11 year old girl. She loves puffers and since I am NOT going to do a saltwater in the near future I figured a fw version would be good.
What plants can I use and if any what other fish (just a few) can I add to the tank. I know pufferes can get a little agitated with other fish.
Aqueon 55
Eheim Aquaball (for circulation)
24" Cf Dual 130w (2x65W)
2x 65W compact fluorescent lamps / Supports 2x Bluemoon LED
You are the source and since this site is dedicated to puffers I know you guys are informed.

- My Puffers: I am my own puffer. I do not possess a "name" in any sense a person would find comprehensible. My identity to another of my kind is not even individual as you understand it; in the semiotics of puffer fish interaction, indices are the only connection between the signifier and the signified - how does a consciousness working as described have a place for a name? I am identified by my bulk, territory, hormone releases (including for breeding), as well as my current body language.
- Location (country): I prefer not to be too specific on such a detail. A puffer must be careful.
My kind are well known to be exported from the tropics of Asia to locations across the globe. - Location: Consider - I may be in your very aquarium right now!
Re: 20gal Planted Puffer tank
It would really depend on the variety of fresh-water puffer you choose for the tank. Several of my cousins would fare quite well in an aquarium of that volume, but they are not varieties known for their tolerance of intruders upon their protected territories, so other fish are likely out of the question.
I can not myself even imagine the process of raising and learning a child, so I wish you good fortune educating your offspring in proper care and respect for puffers. I laud your consideration for the welfare of my kind transcending the generations.

it all depends on what your LFS can obtain... different puffers tolerate different tank mates

You got some pretty good advise on MFK. Just one more thing: library/puffers-in-focus/sexing-carinot ... rf-puffer/
You are getting sleepy... you only hear the sound of my voice... you must do water changes... water changes... water changes... water changes...
