Oh, & with regards to getting more decs in the tank for him to explore - definitely do that. I have loads of plants, rocks,caves, plant pots & I move them around every few weeks to keep up the interest. GSPs like nothing more than exploring & being nosy!

i went back to check on him and the snails are missing from the shells. i guess he sucked them out. will he still eat the shells?

He is unlikely to bother with the empty snails. Make sure they are empty though & not just dead, cos you really don't want rotting snails in the tank! I would go with the crushing them a little next time, then at least he will get some benefit from the shell.

so if the snails are not just dead and just there shells remain in the tank, that is ok rite? i have quite a few scattered along the bottom of my tank and i always wondered if that would be a problem.

Empty shells are perfectly fine.
