nother question about dps

Post by rachy »

im not sure which section this should b in tbh! right,im pretty sure 2 of my dps ( sugar is female, diddy is male) are going through all the mating behaviour etc. sometimes sugar is ok with this, but for pretty much 2 days solid now diddy has been constantly nudging her etc, n she just seems sick of him now lol!! is there anything i can do 2 stop him being such a pest? i dont think hes being aggressive, just wanting her to mate. its quite heavily planted in there etc, i dunno what else 2 do :S feel sorry for her now

I really don't think there's anything you can do bar taking him out. Actually I think she will set him straight when she gets tired of him pestering her, or she will give in and mate. This sort of thing happens all the time in the natural world, but I understand your concern.

My guppies do it all the time, only those poor females get two males following and nudging. I'd be a little frazzled if that were me for sure!

Someone should pin this topic.
"I will give you a talisman. Whenever you are in doubt, or when the self becomes too much with you, apply the following test. Recall the face of the poorest and the weakest man whom you may have seen, and ask yourself, if the step you contemplate is going to be of any use to him or her. Will she gain anything by it? Will it restore her to a control over her own life and destiny? In other words, will it lead to freedom for the hungry and spiritually starving millions? Then you will find your doubts and your self melt away."

I think it's very exciting rachy! I'm very happy for you and your puffers. I'd be over-joyed if my puffs had babies, but seeing as I've got mine in a tank with other fish, I don't think any of the eggs would survive, let alone an actual baby puffer. But I think it's wonderful that yours have laid eggs and you have a baby and possibly will have more. Congratulations! :D

Have you got the food planned out? If you're not sure what to use, you could try going to dwarfpuffers.com and click on "Ren's Posts." He might or might not have mentioned feeding in the log.

not a lot mentioned in there about it tbh!! he says try culturing paramecia, so ill look into that. i also have some liquifry for egg laying fish here, my bumblebee goby babies have been eating that, n they are also pretty tiny, so i might try them on that! havent really prepared for baby puffs, as i wasnt trying 2 breed them!so i think 2moro im gonna have to go get a few bits n bobs, something tiny for them 2 eat and i will also need a filter that isnt gonna suck them up wont i

A sponge filter. But shouldn't that have been running in your other tank for a while to load it up with bacteria?
