Curiosity killed the......puffer??

Post by mysifier »

First off don't worry he's not dead! But that phrase should be changed to curiosity killed the puffer! I was just doing a routine water change, normally Slugsy doesn't like water changes and sulks in the corner until I'm done, so I can just leave the siphon in the tank while I clean the glass or whatever. Today Slugsy was not phased by the water change and decided to investigate, he was creeping closer and closer, then just before i had chance the grab the siphon it sucked him up!!! I quickly tipped him out (luckily he didnt puff and get stuck!) he was very dark but otherwise unharmed by the ordeal! I continued with the water change, he didnt learn from his mistake and marched straight back to the siphon! I cant decide if he wanted to teach that siphon fish a lesson or have anothr go on the waterslide lol! luckily I did learn from my mistake and held the siphon keep it away from him! He's back to his usual handsome self now, baring his teeth at his reflection in the glass! Scared me at the time but now I can't stop laughing!

Mine sulk in the corner also. I'm glad I've never sucked one of them up. That's pretty funny. :D

This makes me wonder if my idea for a puffer amusement park would go well!

I'm usually too busy avoiding my dwarf puffers, I sucked up an Oto last week :(
Problem is, the little guy sucked onto the hose and the only way I could get him out was by blowing REALLY hard onto the end of the tube.
He has survived, but it was a bit panicking... and slightly embarassing.

I'm so worried about sucking up my teensy 3/4" DPs! I plan to blow really hard if I have to. Although, I may just put them into a holding tank for a few minutes instead...
"I will give you a talisman. Whenever you are in doubt, or when the self becomes too much with you, apply the following test. Recall the face of the poorest and the weakest man whom you may have seen, and ask yourself, if the step you contemplate is going to be of any use to him or her. Will she gain anything by it? Will it restore her to a control over her own life and destiny? In other words, will it lead to freedom for the hungry and spiritually starving millions? Then you will find your doubts and your self melt away."
