baileyi vs fahaka?

I am locking for a fahaka puffer but its very hard to find one here in Sweden While i was locking today i find a fish dealer how has Monetrete baileyi!
I never thought of keeping this fish because its so hard to find! But now i think i want it The price is 540 SEK and that is maby 65 USD. Is that a ok price?

First i thought of having only 1 fahaka in my 400L tank. (Will by a bigger later). But if i have 1 baileyi i think it will be empty in the tank And i guess i cant have other fish whit it? Ore what do you think? Maby 2 baileyi????

It says in the the puffer pedia that it will be 12cm... But i might be upp to 30cm? anyone that knows?

What i can tell from movies is that the fahaka puffer is very active! How is the baileyi?

From what I understand, Baileyi aren't all that active.

If you had your heart set on a Fahaka, I would wait for one. Nothing like putting puffers into your 400 litre and then finding a Fahaka in a month, and wishing you had waited.

You could always get a 30 gallon (120 litre) tank and get a Baileyi anyways. That's how multiple tank syndrome begins, though. ^_^

I keep wanting to reduce my tanks, but I just don't have the heart to get rid of my babies!

Hahahha! It's only because we're living in a house with 5 people, and a couple of my tanks are pretty old-looking. My "reducing my tanks", I inevitably mean replacing them with considerably larger tanks.

I think my "happy" point would be having a 120 gallon for a Fahaka, 120 gallon for my Manilensis, and a 40 gallon breeder for my Abei. Unfortunately, that is a lot of frigging tanks, and since I've been trying to become more environmentally friendly, using that much water makes me feel bad.

I'd have to agree with Agnate, since there is nothing worst than picking up one fish, and then realizing a month later you could have bought the one you most wanted instead... and yes its happened to be on more than one occasion in the past...

Wait for the Fahaka
As far as multiple tank syndrome - now I know why I have 9 tanks (glad it is an enjoyable disease).
If you are worried about wasting water, here's an idea- use the water from WC to water your lawn or garden - lawn is not easy unless you make a system to do it but the garden would be easy to do- and the plants would get more fertilizer (nitrogen) without having to buy it (or waste energy to produce chemical fertilizer)

That's a great idea. I already run my Python out the front door. I have a pump that I could hook up to to a garden hose and Nylon Watering hose.

Got a list today from my LFS, he can take in puffers from Singapore och he had a lot of interesting puffers.

Some examples

Monotrete Abei (I really want it!)

And some brackish puffers

It was really hard not to order

How hard do you think that the Tetraodon pustulatus is to find? That is the nr 1 puffer i want but it seems to hard to fins so i never really looked for it.

Yes it was a Tetraodon lineatus The one how work in the store told me that it might arrive on Wednesday =)

Yes! Today they called me from my fish store and told me that the fahaka had arrived!!!
I skipped work for a few hours and went to get new fish =) He was around 5-6 cm and very cute
He was i little bit smaller then i expected, at first i wanted him to go in my 400L whit SA but my H.carpinits male
wold probably kill him. So now he is in my 112L until i give my other fishes away!

In my 112L where he is now i have ansictrus and L134 and some applesnails och shrimps. i will try to save some snails so i will bring some of them to my work tank =) and i saw him hunt for some shrimps =)
