=( I seen some deaths of fishes in those aquariums kept in shopping malls and airport. Its very hard to maintain and they rarely do WC, let alone feeding them the right food, (I bet they would be feeding those commerical pellets to the puffer).

The guy who kept the arapaimas have them only in a small tank, with no room for turning or even moving. He got sued. =) The aquarium I'm interning in have 3 arapiamas in a huge tanks, with 2 garfishs, several pacus and several huge catfishs. But I,personally, still think that its a little overcrowded. If a government aided/funded aquarium have slight problem in rearing these monsters, let alone some guy in his own small aquarium.

bottom line: leave those giants out in nature, unless you're capable.

How big is that tank? We've got similar type tanks here at the Shedd & they seem to have plenty of room for fish like that.

That sounds a lot like the tank at the Vancouver Aquarium, down to the fishes in there. Well, the fishes that were in there last time I went, anyway...
Is that where you're interning?

i intern at the only aquarium in singapore, Underwater World Singapore. I guess most aquarium have arapaima display, they're really cool, esp when feeding.

Actually the tank for the arapaima here is pretty big, probably over few thousandss of gallons. I'm at work now, so maybe i'll ask abt the tanks size. But I dont think they could breed in there. haha!

Yep, I got the tanks size. Its holds 50tons of water, so approximately 50,000L = 11364 Gallons. Actually the tank's pretty big.

That's good. The one here doesn't look particularly big, unfortunately. I love watching them go up to the surface to take a breath, but especially when they let out a giant bubble of air. :D I've only seen it a couple times, but still love it.

Yea. Its pretty amazing when they feed too.I got to dive in to handfeed them and couple of times my hand was that close to being sucked in. Really strong guys.

Man, if I own a tank of that size, I would wanna try breeding some Fahaka puffers / map puffers. =)

I'd breed porcs, or find pustulatus, and breed them!
