Adam J's Favorite Marine Hobbyist Resources

Hello All Puffer Forum Members,
As a hobbyist myself, and as a mentor to other hobbyist, I have always felt that “spoon-feeding people information was detrimental to them as hobbyists in the long run. I’ve always believed people should seek out as many avenues and resources as possible to gain knowledge and learn from multiple experiences and resources, rather than just take one person’s word for everything. Keeping that in mind I have constructed this list of my favorite resources that pertain to being successful in the Marine Hobby, including both resources that focus solely on the hobbyist and resources that relate to the marine hobby but are not neccessarily hobyist resources; such as par ratings, plumbing chemistry and so on.
While I think growing forum activity is great, I believe this will elevate some of the more fundamental questions that are asked multiple times, questions that are difficult for novices to get a grasp of. That needs more detail than a short 2 to 3 sentence can answer. While chat-forums are great, the responder rarely has time/puts in the effort to explain everything in detail. Below please find a list of great ‘reads I like to call ***AJ’s*** favorites.
Please enjoy and continue to check this source from time to time as it will grow as the forum and I do.
Thank you and if you have any suggestions please PM me.
Adam Jackson
****This will be a continuing work over the next day or so, so please be patient, thanks!

Literature (Books And Articles);
General/Fundamental Marine Hobbyist:
"The Conscientiuos Marine Aquarist" by Robert Fenner, TFH/Microcosm (1998)
* Arguablly, if you don’t have this book in your library you aren’t a “real marine aquarist. This is perhaps the closest thing to a bible I own. My mere mortal words cannot express my admiration of the man nor his literature. A MUST have.
"The New Marine Aquarium" by Michael Paletta (1999)
*Short, simple, and filled with great fundamental information for the novice marine hobbyist or even just some interested in the marine hobby. Can read from cover to cover over a lunch break. Great for it’s simplicity.
“Setting up a Marine Aquarium by Dr. Emmens
*A mere 64 pages in length this is another short read. Aimed at the newer or novice marine hobbyist. This piece of literature is a great lay-out that includes step-by-step instructions on becoming a succesful marine hobbyist.
“The Guide To Starting A Marine Aquarium by David E. Burochowitz
*Written by Mr. “TFH Magazine himself, this book satisfies most fears of beginning aquarists. The book lets them know what will be expected of them; should they choose to take the marine endeavor, and then lays out a solid foundation to carry it out. Also 64 pages in length.
“The Marine Aquarium Handbook by Martin Moe
*A solid resource that has sold countless copies. Slightly older than some of the other literature posted, though it has been updated to some degree. While I find this book to be a good resource in inspiring the need for diligent maintenance and teaching some of the fundamentals, I believe the outdated information such as recommending under-gravel filters hurts it somewhat. However still a great book.
“Marine Aquariums by Richard F. Stratton
Another easy-to-follow and sensible read that explains the process of caring for marine life in ones own living room. Covers such things as Fish Compatibility and Filtration suggestions. Does great in it’s attempt to simplify “tough concepts for novices.
