I am putting together the larger marine tank (300 ltr with 110 ltr sump). I have just finished building the cabinet/stand frame and am pulling together the equipment. As ever I am keen to find cheaper ways of achieving the same ends. I need a light to grow the macro algae in the sump. Researching this I find that the macro algaes grow best around 5500 kevlin. I found some bulbs at 6000k but wondered about the moisture affecting the fittings overtime. I have now found a 6400k led outdoor security lamp in the sale for 15euro. If I get good growth I will be delighted!

I used that successfully for many years, with only a PC spiral bulb.
