Finally got all of my equipment, my stand built/stained/set up, and purchased my live rock. Waiting for live rock to cure sure is exhilarating. Sooo....close...

Hopefully in 1-2 months the little guy/gal will finally be in the new home.

What puffer are you going to get?

I've got a GSP who is living at 1.018sg at the moment. I've been setting up a marine tank for it since around February. Finally got all the pieces together, now it is in the final stretch.

I couldn't waiting to get to full salt once I started moving up the brackish levels. Really fun. I probably scan my live rock as much as my puff love watching what comes out of it.

I am very excited. I probably have 3-4 more weeks left until it's habitable though. I've waited this long, a little longer won't kill me (Well...physically kill me). Plus I want to get my GSP out of its 29g so it has more breathing room.

Pretty much all i've been doing is staring at the rocks looking for critters. So far i have one mollusk that appears like it will survive, a few feather dusters and 3 anenomes (though i'm not sure if they're pests or not). Is anyone good at identifying them? I snapped some pictures.

Moat likely those are aptasia anemones & will sting & tank over your tank. A pic would help.

Aiptasia zapped. Thanks for the help ID'ing them. I'll keep on the lookout for more.

Ammonia: 0.25 (was 4 on Monday)
Nitrite: 2.0 (was 0 on Monday)
Nitrate: 20 (was 0 on Monday)

So....close...I think the tank has turned a corner and the live rock is keeping up with the die-off. Also, I noticed a bunch of feather dusters today. Life!!!

How's the tank cycling going?

Mine took two weeks on the dot to cycle. I used mostly dry rock with a little bit of live rock to see, and live aragonite sand. I was pretty lucky that go around. It took longer for my FW tank to cycle. I know the anticipation can be a killer! Make sure you get all that aiptasia under control, or it will make your life a lot harder lol.

I think start to finish it took me 3.5 weeks. I had a lot of die off from the live rock (expected) because I used a florida live rock that was loaded with...critters. I'm glad I did because I have a ton of life in the tank now...most of the undesirables are gone at this point. I had a couple mollusks survive, some cup corals that are thriving, a good bit of coralline algae, feather dusters, and a lot of sponges that survived the abuse.

My freshwater took forever. I want to say 6 weeks. I was stuck with nitrite for what seemed like an eternity.

You are lucky you had that many good hitchhikers. It seems I only got the bad ones lol. Glad the tank has cycled for you, and glad you got that aiptasia problem under control. My peppermint shrimp are having at mine currently. =)
