I consider the short wide deep tanks frag stlye. I'll probably wind up with a tank about 3-4 feet wide, 2feet back, and 18-24 inches vertical depth.
And I'd like to thank RTR for his last post as much as I would like to keep both fish I trust his expertise and anyone else who read this should too.

Good- now your tank will be far easier to manage well. Both eels and puffers are high-waste fish, plus they both can be untrustworthy especially with others who see themselves as king of the tank.. Its easier to plan on letting them be that, individually. Then their care is manageable. You should have a much easier time operating the tank. It is human nature to take on a system that seems to manageable, but really is a massive chore that rarely gets done well. Realistically set tanks means simpler upkeep without stressing either yourself or the fish. Don't ask how I know this...

Been there done, that, but will not wear the tee-shirt.

I may have a new emergency! Is this aptasia or some kind of sea anemone?

Can I just scrape it off the snail outside the tank or should I get rid of the snail altogether with the aptasia. I don't see any other ones anywhere else in the tank?

You can scrape it off the snail. Look for others.
