And here is the kicker I had a blue spot puffer for about 6 years that I just had to get rid of him, because he was pecking at some of the zoas. He had never bothered anything before

For pox, you want to get it up to 50-100ppm asap. Do you keep fish in there? if not, I don't see any reason not to start at 1 tsp & go up from there. At 1 tsp for my 100g system, that's only 23ppm. If the pox are gone, I'd start at 1/4 tsp & ramp up every other day to a whole tsp. I put it under my skimmer cup of the Backpac filters.
