Aquarium salt???

Post by Ti_CLaD »

I was looking into getting my new aquarium to brackish water very soon, never had this type of water before, so looking into salt, I was walking at walmart, never usually go there for fish and stuff but I was there, I got the only salt they had, aquarium salt... But when I got home, I notice on it it's marked for freshwater fishes... Did I get the right stuff???

No that's not what you are after. You want a marine mix. Don't forget a refractometer and raise the salinity by no more than 0.002 per week or you will kill your biological filtration. Welcome to the forum
It's amazing how easy maintenance is. If done regularly and thoroughly

This is the brand I use..

Go ahead and throw that aquarium salt a way, it has no legal definition so no one knows what it is. If someone says to use it, just ignore. If you need to treat for ick, use table salt not aquarium salt.

Here is info on brackish water mixing..
