Hermit crab and GSP

Post by Petoj87 »

Well i have 2 young green spotted puffers that are growing up right now they are in a freshwater tank but ill soon add aquarium salt to make it brackish..
So my idea is to slowly go from freshwater to a marine tank, are there any hermit crab that would fit this??
Or they are strictly marine?

aquarium salt will not make a brackish tank, you have to use marine salt.

I read some where that if you put lots and lots of snail shells in the tank and a hermit the puffer would get confused and give up on trying to eat it, is that totally wrong?

I wrote that, before the puffers finally ate the hermit.

I've had 3 hermits and 1 snail for the last several months. My GSP just likes to knock them off the rocks from time to time, but never even tries to nip at them, I say that since hermits are pretty cheap drop a couple in and if they get eaten then it was just a snack for the fish and if not you get some new pets.
I'm pretty sure I have a blue thumb.

Back to the original question then, can they survive a freshwater to marine transformation?

Marine only I'm afraid
It's amazing how easy maintenance is. If done regularly and thoroughly

I had a fiddler crab that survived the transition. He died about a month after I reached marine conditions, I think it was because I didn't provide a place for him out of the water. I think the fiddler is the only one that can survive the salinity swing, but again you need to give it some land or it won't live too long. Also, my puffer took one of his legs when I first got him but never bothered him after that.

I think that is an adult GSP BTW.
