Can wood in a bw tank last?
Can wood in a bw tank last?
A friend of mine is giving me some drift wood with java moss on it and I'd like to know if this would last in my brakish tank. SG will be at a max of 1.004. How about some annubias?

I tried mopani wood in my BW and it began to smell bad after a few months. I have a ton of moponi in other FW tanks and it's as fresh as day one. For BW I use plastic mangrove now.

1.004?
i had a lot of driftwood with java moss in a 1.004 display with no problems.
I dont recomend anubias, Microsorum sp. are better.
About the smell of the woods, it is normal, i had tested 4 kinds of wood (mangrove, manzanilla, mopani, vine roots ) in FW & BW.
All submerged woods are in rot process, there are woods that resist years underwater (the four i just said), and others that simply disintegrate in matter of months.
I only recommend mangrove, manzanilla, mopani, vine for underwater displays.

Let there be light, and lit up the days... Let there be puffers, and they swam around the world...
