Purple algae (not pretty) ?

Post by sparks42 »

What is it and what is the cause?
I googled and all I could find was the pretty purple algae that grows in marine.
Never had this before, always had green or brown, and this stuff crept up in like 1 or 2 days!!!

It definitely looks like cyano to me. Usually FW tanks get the green stuff and SW tanks get the red stuff but I'm not sure at what SG the red becomes likely???

I've successfully eradicated cyano (often) with Chemiclean.
