Recently I emailed API because I wanted to know at what sg I should be switching from their Freshwater Master Test Kit to their Saltwater kit. I have a young GSP and I'm increasing the salt level as he grows bigger.
They told me that the two kits are IDENTICAL. The only difference is the color chart card. The two kits have the exact same reagents (chemicals in the dropper bottles). I was told that as the salt level goes up, the colors generated by the tests change, that's why the saltwater test has a different color card. They weren't able to tell me exactly how much salt causes the change, but it's easy to check using both cards.
API agreed to send me a saltwater test card for free. This will save me from buying the saltwater test kit which would cost me about $50 CAD.

Very interesting!
You are getting sleepy... you only hear the sound of my voice... you must do water changes... water changes... water changes... water changes...

Re: Useful Info RE API test kits
I received the card a few weeks ago, and they also included the instruction booklet. For now since I'm only at 1.010 sg, I'm checking both cards when I test the water. So far there isn't a lot of difference.
