How much food per day do you think and when should i take my first reading?

IVe started with two pinches of food, and was thinking of taking a reading in 3 days

The problem with using food, is there really is no way to tell how much to use. Using straight ammonia is much more scientific.

Also, with food- it decomposes, which is the point-but enough collects and you could have saprolengia outbreak (fungus which grows on decomposing organic matter). Larger pieces of raw food tend to do this more than flake, however I recommend you do thorough gravel vac to ensure no debris begins to essentially mold!
