Ramshorn snail question

Post by MilesE »

I've read a few different articles where it was said that Ramshorn snails can carry parasites. I bought some ramshorn snails and setup a tank for them so that I can start breeding them but, in the meantime, how can I ensure that the ramshorn snails that I have are free of parasites? It is my understanding that many of the medications to treat parasites will kill snails.

You are getting sleepy... you only hear the sound of my voice... you must do water changes... water changes... water changes... water changes...

Hey Pufferpunk, could you elaborate more on how to QT snails and clams? I mean, when you quarantine them, do you just feed and observe them and if they live past the 30 days, they're good? I know a lot of inverts are very sensitive to many meds so, I'm assuming that treating an invert tank with meds would be crazy.
