Tank:
125 gallon
Fish:
Fahaka puffer (6 months old, 7 inches)
Opaline Gourami (6 months old, palm sized)
Pearl Gourami (6 months old, palm sized)
Pleco (age unknown, 8 inches)
I was wondering if anyone could help us with our plants in our tank. About 2 months back we switched our tank over to all live, rock driftwood & plants. We have a random assortment of plants in our tank including mostly java ferns, amazon swords, & dwarf hair grass. We've been having difficulty getting our plants to grow & flourish the way that they should be. We have a mix of sand & substrate in our tank & I read with sand make sure the roots are secure but not buried too far. I do partial water changes every 2 weeks & occasionally add in Co2 booster for the plants but they are just not growing & it's frustrating....help???!
Below is a picture of our tank set up.

Re: Live plants
Your substrate sounds good. Could you provide details about the lights you have? Specifically wattage and kevin, and what you are using for a co2 booster.

Re: Live plants
Yes, based on what we can see your tanks and planting looks good. We need to know the wattage/beefyness of the lights you are working with.

Re: Live plants
Is your Java Fern planted in the substrate? If it is then it will rot away, it needs to be planted on rocks or wood.
Re: Live plants
I saw it, it would be good then.

Re: Live plants
Not sure if you are still looking for plant suggestions, but we find moneywort grows gigantic and spreads as well. As a bonus, the plant sends out new rootlets near the top so you can pluck off smaller baby plants and stick them into your substrate. Any pruning will make your plant branch out and become thicker, so it is win-win
