Wow!!! Just by looks I would have guessed 50+ lbs, this fish is larger than my 6 yr old and even my skinny boy who is 10 yrs old and only weighs about 70lbs.

I know this is an old post but I was doing some research and saw this post. I know I've read that large goldfish aren't that rare http://www.goldfisho.com/biggest-goldfish/ but is 30lbs still the largest on record?

It isn't a goldfish, even though it looks similar to one. It is a carp (Cyprinus carpio) not a goldfish (Carassius auratus).

I'm going to a Koi/GF show tomorrow. Who knew, in this small town! Might get a calico oranda or ranchu.

I have a 40 gallon that has 1 ranchu and 2 lionheads.
