Where do you get your water for your fishies? The LFS, your sink?

My garden hose and sometimes my sink. I have well water. I just have watch out for the spring thaw and I do my best to keep the hose clean.

Where does your water come from.. Is it city water or do you have a well?

I have a well

I don't usually add anything to my water exept sometimes I add something like stress coat if the fish seem upset, but usually my fish just glide around blissfully after a water change or top off.

However, I will admit I am not a water expert! Someone else may have better advice. I just do what works, heck the math for brackish water still makes me scratch my head.

LOL we bought our house because it had a well, plus there is a pond close by with fish in it. So, the water is yummy to people and to fish I guess.

I think you would need to add something to your water, but I am sure you could use your water. Just wait for someone to tell you the best product to use...whatever it is I bet it is cheaper than buying water. :D

If you're buying RODI water from your LFS for FW fish, it needs to be re-mineralized. Your city/tap water is much better to use. Condition with Prime.
You are getting sleepy... you only hear the sound of my voice... you must do water changes... water changes... water changes... water changes...

I use tapwater, looking for a larger RO Unit though, with the 140gallons aquarium coming soon, it will take forever to fill it up at 1 bucket a day ~_~. I've contemplated buying the first fillup at the LFS though.
Over here I think its said that it will take a year or so for a RO unit to pay off in comparison to buying at the LFS.

I would personally feel bad about using the tapwater for aquariums in Dallas, at least 12.5 years ago when I was there it was like drinking liquid iron. I have no idea if that at all effects the fish in any way though.

Hey Tim, get yourself a 'D&D RO Booster Pump' to add to your RO unit. You'll be able to make RODI water alot quicker. Rather than taking all night to fill a Jerry can/bottle it'll only take an hour or two.

I'm curently using a reverse osmosis rig for the salt/brackish tanks and municipatal water for the FW.

I hate test kits as I was used to dealing with ppm in the +/-% small amounts and reproduciblity x 1,000s/day working in the water industury..I find Tk's rather limiting..

Thanks I was still debating with or without :), guess that solved that.

Now to decide if I want 125gpd, 150gpd or 300gpd , heck I even found 600gpd for an affordable price .
