Rainbow Land Crabs (Cardisoma armatum)
Re: Rainbow Land Crabs (Cardisoma armatum)
Hi,
Does anyone want to buy a rainbow crab off me? He's only 7 months old (if that) but he's very big, and i think he would be better off in a tank by himself where he would have more space. He's very colourfull as he's just molted, so his shell is clean and bring.
All you need is a tank with a filter and heater (24 - 28 (i've had it at 26)) and a place where he can get out of the water as well as in the water.
If you're interested reply here or email me at smrobinson2002@aol.com. We can sort out how i will get the crab to you. I will sell the crab for £5 but if I have to travel a long way then it will be a bit more to cover petrol costs.
Thankyou

That video was very cool, and it's good to know that you still have your crab. Do you have more than one, or just that one in the video?
I still have fond memories of mine and I wish I hadn't gotten rid of them. It looks like your set-up is mostly water, but that must be okay for him as I think you've had yours for a rather long time now, haven't you?

I only have the one now. One of them mysteriously died, and the other i had to give to a pet store because he got too big and was ripping the legs and claws off the other one. the set up is mostly water as i cracked my other tank so still waiting to get a new one and build it properly

You are getting sleepy... you only hear the sound of my voice... you must do water changes... water changes... water changes... water changes...

I'd say that's typical of most "animals", once they mature, males usually do not get along.

Re: Rainbow Land Crabs (Cardisoma armatum)
Just to make sure, these are the crabs from Africa and they are freshwater right?
Thanks ^^
Thanks ^^
Re: Rainbow Land Crabs (Cardisoma armatum)
Not sure if they are from Africa, I'm pretty sure they are from a few places actually I just can't remember where lol.
They are freshwater but tropical, I have my water at 26 and you need a filter.

Re: Rainbow Land Crabs (Cardisoma armatum)
They actually are African, hence the tropical conditions needed. They really need land more than water, so they can make tunnels, as that's what they would do in the wild.

Re: Rainbow Land Crabs (Cardisoma armatum)
so, they are freshwater? I read somewhere all crabs are brackish water so I'm still confused.
