I just got a bunch of ghost shrimp to feed my F8 Right now, they're still in the bag with tank water in it. I added baby newly hatched brine shrimp for them to eat and they seem to love it! They all have turned orange. I'm wondering, though, if a couple of them are carying fertile eggs! If they are, what do I do with them? Will they hatch? I can see individual round eggs with a black dot in each. They are under the legs, being held there. Should I put them in my feeder tank- there are blood worms and lots of snails and snail eggs- or with the dwarf puffer, who doesn't care about shrimp at all? I will add some pix.

Re: Ghost Shrimp Eggs?
I've read on line a bit and I thinkthey do have eggs! They fan them with their legs every so often. They are still in the bag with the baby brine shrimp. I've read to separate the ones with eggs. If I just added them to my feeder tank with sand and snails and blood worms.

Re: Ghost Shrimp Eggs?
I've seen pics of shrimp carrying eggs in the past. Usually they carry them under the belly by the legs. I can't tell by looking at you pics. I do know you can see ghostys food in the stomach after they eat. That's what it looks like to me.

Re: Ghost Shrimp Eggs?
They were. I mistakenly left my ghost shrimp in the bag in the tank and fell asleep. No more ghost shrimps. However, I did take one and take some pix.

Aww. That does look like eggs. I've never been lucky enough to have any baby shrimp. I've kept ghost, cherry and amano shrimp since fish keeping.

Yes, those all died, but I got some more and one had eggs. She's in my pond snail and blood worm tank. The rest of them were male and went into the F8's tank.

Re: Ghost Shrimp Eggs?
Usually ghost shrimp eggs are black. My female ghost shrimp has been pregnant with black eggs 3x now. Just be sure IF she is pregnant, to seperate her/the pair from the fry/baby shrimp when they hatch. The parents/female eat the babies.

Only had four actually live, but I tend to keep Rancor's feeder shrimp till their eggs hatch. Back then his snail tank had an Amazon Sword taking up most of the 8 gallons.
