Feeding your Puffers ? (Frequency)

Post by Coops »

Hi there, I was interested in how OFTEN puffer owners feed their fish. I always feel really mean feeding everyone else and not the puffers. I have a 6" Dog face and one 6" Porc both in separate tanks.

If I leave them for more than a day without feeding they get ticked off and approaching the tank simply gets them churning the water. But then Puffers can tend to be like petulant kids, and they do look so cute lol.

But seriously, how often / frequently do you feed your puffers ?

Appreciate feed back.

P.S I'm currently upgrading my Algea Scrubber from 2 X 12" sheets to 3 X 18" sheets, to try keep up with feeding once per day lol.

An active 6" fish should be fed every other day. Do they look fat?
You are getting sleepy... you only hear the sound of my voice... you must do water changes... water changes... water changes... water changes...

When I got them they were WAY over weight, the porc was grossly over weight. They are now 'Healthy' looking but I was interested to see what others do in the way of catering for their larger Marine puffer friends.

They have eaten well since the day I got them and are both great additions with almost no aggression or 'naughty habits'. My Clown Trigger on the other hand... don't get me started!

Anyone had much luck feeding the puffs on crabs legs once in a while, trying to build up their 'crunchy diet'.
