Dogface purchase size

After months set up and waiting, the day of my Dogface purchase is almost here. My question is about how big should my dogface be when I buy it? I have heard that they can be tough to get to feed when smaller and I already have a baby snowflake eel (8 inch or so) in the tank. Of course I would like to purchase a smaller one but should I look at a more fully grown puffer so it is more relaxed around the eel?

Thank you in advance.

*I always like to get my fish as juvies, so I can grow them up properly with good nutrition from the start.

I prefer that as well.

I have heard though that dogfaces can be very shy when young and may not feed when housed with more aggressive tankmates. Have you not found this to be the case?

Thank you for your input pufferpunk

I believe that would be the case for any fish.

Ask the lfs to feed him while you're there.
