40 gallon GSP set up

Post by Jdub1239 »

Currently have a 40 gallon set up for a gsp. I have about 2 inches of livesand, 80 lbs of live rock. A coralife 65 protien skimmer, a aquaclear 110, and a couple power heads. Is this a good setup or am i missing anything?

Looks good. Check water parameters as you go.

Sounds great! Do you have a source for GSPs already in SW?

I have not found a source with them in saltwater. I have seen some in low end brackish.

Take time to drip-acclimate then.

I do have an extra protien skimmer, would the tank benefit more having the extra skimmer and taking off the aquaclear 110 or is the 110 more valuable then the extra skimmer?

I would use the Aquaclear for flow in the tank. If you are going total SW with it, then remove all the filter media & buttocks live rock rubble.

That setup looks good to me. You didnt mention the obvious things like heaters and such but i'm sure you have them. We'd love to see a picture. I particularly like seeing other people's live rock placement, so i can get new ideas for when i eventually re-landscape.

Is is going to be a FOWLR or reef?
