GSP/blenny compatability question
Anyone ever keep a tailspot blenny with a GSP in a 40 gallon SW tank? I know it may depend on the individual puffer's temperament but just wondering. I am quite prepared to keep Lucy as an "only fish" but I just thought these blennies were cute....Thanks folks

Re: GSP/blenny compatability question
40 might be a little small for both. It seems like tank mates are hit or miss with GSPs, I haven't had any issues with mine and the yellow tail damsel so far but I think it really just depends on the disposition of your fish. I would suggest you put it in assuming it will become an instant meal, and if not then you have a new pet.
I'm pretty sure I have a blue thumb.

With lots of hidey-holes, it should be OK. Those guys are quick to dive into a hole!

Xray has that combination, his GSP has been the perfect lady around him.

Re: GSP/blenny compatability question
There are other blennies that sit out in the open but this species hangs right by his hold to quickly duck into.

Re: GSP/blenny compatability question
Yep, I have that combo.
The tail spot has his hiding holes and will swim from hole to hole. He has one he prefers over the rest, but he does come out and just swim around. My GSP has ignored him completely. BUT every GSP is different

Re: GSP/blenny compatability question
Thanks everyone for your valued opinions. I may or may not get a blenny; maybe when my tank is set up and cycled with plenty of hidey-hole spots in the live rock I could introduce a blenny first to establish his holes then introduce Lucy.... Just a thought, still in planning stages. Thanks again!

I think that's an excellent idea.

Re: GSP/blenny compatability question
Glad that someone asked. I was thinking about getting a hector blenny to help with the long algae in the tank. I heard they eat mouthfuls of it at a time!

LoL!! That's funny, cause they look like they do!
So What I was told was a "Hector Blenny" actually is a Hector Goby. So I think I am going to try to see how a Lawnmower goby does.

Re: GSP/blenny compatability question
I have a Tailspot Blenny now too. My GSP is not aggressive at all, but I think even if he were, he wouldn't be able to catch him. However, if Lucy does turn out to be aggressive, the Blenny may hide constantly and that wouldn't be very awesome.

To tell you the truth, I got one a few months ago from a fellow reefer & haven't seen it since.

Re: GSP/blenny compatability question
A terrorized tail spot blenny is not good; that wouldn't be a very nice life for him. I think I'll just stick with Lucy the Spoiled. Thanks all
