Not living with Kaiser though! Does he have other tank mates he might get a taste for? Although, I still have plenty of fish living with Filbert. I have no idea why he lived with this fish for over a year & then turned on him.

No more fish with Kaiser. But he did live with Kaiser for 3 years. He just all of a sudden turned on him. I am thinking because he may have been sick, even though he looked and acted great. :(

I had something similar happen many years ago when I kept an African Clawed frog with a Betta. They lived happily together for 3 years, in a big glass bowl. The frog was quite big, but the Betta wasn't a small fish by any means. One day I came home from work to find that Mr Froggie had decided to eat Mr Betta, only Mr Betta was too big to get into Mr Froggie's tummy. Unfortunately I think the stomach acids started to work on Mr Betta for the time he was inside Mr Froggie because even though he was spat out, he was dead!

There was no good reason why Mr Froggie would decide to eat Mr Betta because they were both well fed and well taken care of. And to last for 3 years together I thought was very good. :)

But there you go!

Bad idea, PPG. ACFs get huuuuuge and they eat fish, as you learned. Bowls are not sufficient for either species, although a 2.5g+ bowl can be carefully outfitted for betta use with the addition of a heater and with 100% water changes on a set schedule.

Recall the face of the poorest and the weakest man whom you may have seen, and ask yourself, if the step you contemplate is going to be of any use to him or her. Will she gain anything by it? Will it restore her to a control over her own life and destiny? In other words, will it lead to freedom for the hungry and spiritually starving millions? Then you will find your doubts and your self melt away."

Well, let's keep in mind that this happened like 30 years ago, and I was much much younger, and very inexperienced. I didn't have a clue about fish, but at least I did keep them living for 3 years, so that was something good. That frog was quite big when it finally died and I was really sad to lose him because I had grown very attached to him.
We bought an Albino ACF last year and it wasn't long before it was VERY big and I was afraid it would start eating my small fish and so I rehomed it. I have learned my lessons with ACF's and hope not to have any more experiences with them, unless I have a tank devoted just to them. :D

Yeah Kiaser isn't going to have anymore friends from this point on. I can't afford to feed him rich meals.

The Starry Nights are beautiful, I wanted to get one from a LSF but the guy was asking for +$40 for a 2 incher. Back then I would never pay over $20 for any fish and then I met Google, my fahaka =)
