GSP Behaviour-rubbing teeth against glass

Hi Everyone, thanks in advance for the advice. I have 2 young GSP's in a 40 gallon tank. Brackish water, 1.006. Water parameters are great. Today after a water change and some habitat rearranging, I noticed the larger puffer rubbing his beak/teeth against the glass repeatedly. He continued this for at least 10 minutes. He rides the glass often, and may be doing this more often and I just noticed. Any ideas if this behavior indicates anything in particular?

Just trying to get your attention. Maybe hungry?

Thanks! I hope that's it! I'm really not wanting to do any trimming if possible. That's a frightening prospect.

I think he's trying to cut the glass and escape :-)

Raytheman-Lol, probably!

I actually ran into an acquaintance who had this issue before. He said it's a space issue. The tank I have them in is a column style 40 gallon, so i think I'm going to move both of them into a long 55 gallon. The other thing he mentioned was that 1 of the puffers developed an infection from rubbing and it was too late :( these were porcupine puffers. So new project, arghh!

And it is confirmed that he is doing it throughout the day
