GSP internal parasites?

Post by pufferkeeper411 »

Hi guys, I kind of recently got a GSP named BumbleBee. Since GSP's are notorious for having internal parasites, I medicated him early on as a preventative. I then made the stupid mistake of adding in plants from a tank at PETCO. He then started developing a sunken in belly so I treated him again. Now he still eats voraciously, but he gets a slightly sunken in belly after around 10 hours of not feeding him. I am kind of on the fence about whether to treat him again, but since I am raising salinity, do you think that that could get rid of his most likely freshwater parasites. Thanks.

Salinity: 1.010 using INSTANT OCEAN salt mix
40 percent water changes once a week
feeding frozen Krill, People shrimp, bladder snails(although I will soon switch to MTS) and bloodworms.
32.5 gallon Fluval Flex with Lava rock.
I am also thinking about getting a yellowtail damsel in the future when it is full marine.
32.5 gallon Fluval Flex with 1 GSP(BumbleBee)
5 gallon planted tank with Dwarf puffer
3 gallon shrimp tank with 1 feeder guppy and cherry shrimp
1 gallon snail breeding tank(MTS and Bladder snails)

I highly suggest treating his food, as internal parasites need to be treated internally.

Yes, I did treat his food. I soaked some people shrimp in a cup of tank water and added the medication. I then put the whole solution in the aquarium and he ate some of the shrimp, but spit a little out. Thanks for the reply Pufferpunk and Pufferjw!
