"Freshwater" Snowflake Moray Eel and F8s?

Post by ZiggyAnderson »

Greetings. I was at the pet store picking up bladder snails (can't keep a colony going...) for my F8 tank when I saw the mislabeled "FW" snowflake moray eel. I know it isn't truly FW, everything seems to indicate brackish to full marine. But I am curious if they are compatible with F8s at a salinity of 1.010? I know there is debate about the salinity for F8s, JW if the eel and F8s would be compatible or if they would eat/pester each other. To be honest, I think I know the answer, I would just like to be wrong and have a super predator tank. :)

Please see: http://www.wetwebmedia.com/fwsubwebindex/fwmorayart.htm

I would not mix those two. My G. tile would have eaten a small puffer without a doubt sooner or later. Many moray eels (maybe all of them) are not affected by puffer venom at all, but they still can suffocate if they try to swallow a puffed puffer without piercing it properly first.

Also, the F8 prefers lower end brackish while the G. tile is best kept in a marine tank.

In addition, try a forum search for further opinions. This question has been discussed a few times in the last years.
