ammonia testing in brackish water....which colour chart?
ammonia testing in brackish water....which colour chart?
On the freshwater chart it shows .25 ppm and on the saltwater chart it's at zero. Which chart should i rely on?

What's the SG?
You are getting sleepy... you only hear the sound of my voice... you must do water changes... water changes... water changes... water changes...

when doing a water change, should i increase the sg by .002 even if i'm showing a bit of nitrite? (.25)

Re: ammonia testing in brackish water....which colour chart?
I remember there was a thread started on this forum that was about how to read the ammonia level with low-end brackish water. I think the verdict was that the colour for zero amm. will be closest to the FW chart, but will be slightly muddied by a slight green-brown tinge as a result of salt content. It really does make it difficult to have full confidence when taking a reading.
But based on your image, I'd agree that yours does appear to be undetectable.

well i got 0 ammo and .25 nitrite. Pretty quick cycle. Did a 20% wc just to help a bit.(matched the sg in the tank) I've only fed him once since i got him(last thursday).

If you have .25 nitrite then your cycle is incomplete... a completed cycled should read 0 amm. and 0 nitrite, + some nitrate. Should have waited for the cycle to be completed before introducing the puffer.
Keep up on large daily water changes so that nitrite doesn't harm the puff.
