My two GSP's spend a lot of time roaming the top 1/3 of the tank (55 gallon). I've added extensive decor to keep them from becoming bored but most of it only goes 2/3rd of the way up the tank so a lot of the time they are just swimming over it rather than through it. They do explore it, but seem to spend an equal amount if not more roaming the top.
I am sure this is in part because the food comes from the top and they are looking for it. I've been trying to introduce the food (mostly snails, it's hard to do it with the rest) without them seeing so that they'll find it at the bottom, but as you can imagine with two hungry little GSP's this is very hard to do.
Does anyone else experience this and have any tips?
Normal for GSP to spend a lot of time at top of tank?

Add taller plants?

I have taller plants but they line the back wall of the tank. They mostly swim near the top on the front side and it would look weird to add tall plants in the foreground.

Do you have live rock in the tank? Mine loves to explore and "clean" it

Nope! It's a brackish tank.

Moving it to saltwater would be cheaper and better for the puffs
