What % of a F8's diet should be snails?

Post by genevieve »

I just bought Sammy lots of tiny pond snails and she's "lovin' it"! I don't want to overdo it though. The rest of her diet is freeze dried krill, freeze dried brine shrimp, and frozen blood worms.

My fig8 currently has a diet comprising of about 90% snails and 10% of brineshrimp and bloodworms (which I feed to my bbgs). From what I have read it seems that many people feed 80-90% snails to their fig8s, so to ensure worn down dentition. The nutritional content shouldn't be an issue, assuming you appropriately gut-load your snails with veges and/or herbivorous fish foods.
