Best way to feed figure 8 puffers?
Best way to feed figure 8 puffers?
Im new to figure eight puffers and ive just had mine for a few days. She has been eating well for the past few days but wasnt really digging the blood worms. I usually just drop half a frozen cube in and it thaws really fast. I know thats probably not the best but thats why im asking for help. I have only had cichlids before where i just dump some flakes in so im not used to this live and frozen food yet? Any tips? Also my puffer seems to get scared when i come near the glass and seams like to only swim into the glass on the far sides of the tank which from what ive ready is not how they usually act? Any tips? Its a 20l just one f8 puffer pretty well planted with some driftwood and rocks for exploring.

Defrost the food in tank water prior to adding, just pop a little tank water in a cup and allow the food to thaw. Even better if you add a little vitamin supplement whilst soaking
It's amazing how easy maintenance is. If done regularly and thoroughly

Also, I soak all foods in fish vitamins & drain the liquid thru a brine shrimp net.

As for her being scared- give her some time. Eventually she'll come to associate your face/presence with food and swim over. Or at least that's been my experience. Now I have a little beggar on my hands every time I approach the tank
"Feeeeeed meeeeeee..."
Is it a 20 (long) gallon tank or a 20 liter???? A f8 won't last long at all in a five gallon tank as I'm sure the others will tell you

If they're in the US, then probably gallons.

I feed my F8s shrimp and find that the best and most fun way to do it is to stick it with a wooden skewer and slide it to the blunt end then move it around the tank for them to chase
I thaw it the shrimp in water so any bits that fall straight of the shrimp go into that water rather than the tank.
I bought a big bag of frozen shrimp and I use a third of a shrimp each feed so I'm set for a good while
