2 years later, GSP not growing.

Post by Aquarist »

I have made a thread about this before, I got my Green Spotted Puffer when he was about 1.5". This was over two years ago. Now, he is 3" and has not grown in a very long time. He gets a PWC once a week, eats daily and lives alone in a 55 gallon with an adequate filter, protein skimmer and live rock. I have seen many adult Green Spotted Puffers, I noticed that RTR informed someone else that if their GSP is only 3.5", they are stunted. Could Bowser (my GSP) be stunted from poor pet store conditions/transport before coming to my home?

It is very possible he was mis-cared for before you got him but like I've mentioned before there are short, people, tall people, red-haired & black. Why would it be different for fish? OK, they don't have hair...

Much like PP said, it could just be a variation in the species.

Strangely, I have notice also that the type that pp love to show grew bigger most of the time. Those that are brighter yellow with bigger black spots do not grow that big.. At least I haven seen any photo of it yet.

Mine were just normal-looking GSPs when purchased.
