Is it a refractometer or hydrometer? I believe it's the latter & if it is, you have the incorrect one. Get one that starts at 1.000.

It's important to be able to measure it - you don't want to raise it too fast and kill your cycle.
"I will give you a talisman. Whenever you are in doubt, or when the self becomes too much with you, apply the following test. Recall the face of the poorest and the weakest man whom you may have seen, and ask yourself, if the step you contemplate is going to be of any use to him or her. Will she gain anything by it? Will it restore her to a control over her own life and destiny? In other words, will it lead to freedom for the hungry and spiritually starving millions? Then you will find your doubts and your self melt away."

Then I don't understand why you can't read a lower SG. Makes no sense at all. How did you calibrate it?

I have a feeling you are using a refractometer not made for measuring salt content then.

What is the current temperature in the tank? I hope you've been gradually increasing it :D Did your IP medication arrive?

My Green Spotted actually had a couple white dots on his tail when I saved him. After trying some ich medications (terrible idea), I decided to educate myself on the heat/salt treatment. The marine salt was going to be added regardless so the slow increase in heat was the really only active part. I still keep the temperature in my tank above normal (83-84) just to give me a sense of security. My GSP has never had a problem with permanent increase in temperature (assuming because he has been in that range for his entire lifetime now). He's very active, healthy and (hopefully) happy. I've never had a problem with ich since.

That's a good way to raise it's metabolism, shortening it's lifespan. If the fish is healthy, keep it at 78.

Before he had white spots on him i kept him at 25C(77F) now i have increased the temperature to about 29-30C (84-86 F) the fish is much more active since i have done this, im gonna keep it at this temperature for about a week to see if it has any effect on the white dots, i have also slowly increased the salt in the aquarium this was my plan any way but maybe not this soon :P
I even tried to raise the temperature over 30C but the fish got stressed out so i lowered it again to 30C..

The medication has not arrived yet but hope fully i will come today if not i should be here on Monday, but he is still eating he loves blood worms and snails, sadly he doesn't like frozen artemia he eats a few then ignores them...
