Looks like a T. Sabahensis to me - has different requirements to a Mbu, so check out the Pufferpedia. Its the first one I've seen in this country, so I would hang onto it if I were you!

i paid £30 he is really active and is living in a 5ft freashwater tankn untill i upgrade to a 7 by 3 by 2.5 eating well on prawn and cockles and has a fat belly he seems friendly and was in the tank with small fish and fancy goldfish with no problems

If it is a Saba, then it does best in brackish - I hope that won't put you off keeping him!

I'm not sure if they are classed as rare. I just know I have never seen one & I have had puffs for over 10 years, so am always looking for something interesting in the lfs. I believe they are often misidentified as GSPs or Ceylons.

Looks like a Ceylon by looking at the Puffer Pedia. I hope your willing to have a marine tank.
