Gsp surfing glass

Post by Bbbsg1168 »

Just had my gsp 2 weeks ago. It's about 2 inches, when I got it from my LFS he was with at least 20 others in a small tank. He/she has been normal eat well and doesn't glass surf alot till now. It started to eat less and less. I have been feeding him freeze dried krull, frozen blood worm(it doesn't really like it) and occasionally bladder or mystery snail(I will break the shell for it) . It started with freshwater and slowly converting to brackish with now sanity of 1.004(will stop increasing for time being) . Water condition is as follows
Sanity was increase 1.002 per week.
GH:180
KH:80
PH:7.5 - 8.5 range
NO2:0
NO3:20
Temp 26-29 degree c
Tank size 10 - 15gallon.
Tank make only 1 pleco about 10cm who does his own thing and never bother each other.
Deco: one 30cm drift wood, 2 live plant and one fake deco pot.

It's worrying me now, is it normal?
Is there any other thing I can do? I have place paper on the side of glass that he been surfing. Which it stop surfing at that side of glass.

Welcome!

Your tank is way too small. Please rehome the pleco, it is not a BW species & will grow huge. Driftwood lowers the pH & softens the water & will rot in BW.
Puffer could use a better diet: library/feeding/feeding-your-puffers/

Thanks for the acceptance, I have since moved my pleco to another FW tank and will monitor my Gsp progress. Its really hard to find mentioned food for them as many do not fit their mouth size.
I have been using liquid vitamins to soak the food I'm giving him while sourcing for suitable live feeds.

I feel that it's freaking out.
How can I calm it down fast?

You don't need foods to fit into their mouth. They have serious chompers to cut into flesh.

How heavily decorated is the tank? When are you upgrading?

My breeding of snail hasn't been going smoothly for the past 2 months and it really difficult to source for feeder snails so far. I'm looking to rehome him in a few months time to a 123L tank and maybe include one more puffer.

He seems more calm now compare to the day I wrote here. But still pacing the glass at a lower speed.

Really, 123L isn't even large enough for a single adult GSP.
