well where are the theoretical flaws in this (ridiculous and impracticcal) setup, thats all im saying? (why youd want the setup is another matter, when water changes could be used to simulate changes in salinity)

I'd want the set up so I could just satisfy my own curiosity as to what the fish would choose to live in if they had their own choice. If they'd spend certian months in certian waters, different ages in different waters, part of the day.. whatever.

And I just think it would be cool.

I know is practically impossible but its still fun to think about. The problem with having both fresh and salt run "downhill" into a brackish tank has a few problems. The first abvious one is the fact that the salt is going to spread out, no matter what. The second is that if you say enough current will stop the spread of the salt, just try to picture how much current you'd need. Freshwater wouldn't be so bad, just turn on a tap full blast and let it constantly run. But how the heck could you possibly refill the saltwater side at a constant enough rate? A resevoir of a couple hundred gallons would be empty rather quickly if it was anything more than a trickle.

The answer may well be in RTR's link. Would be cool if it was possible.

I've got it!!

Win Local 10 million plus lottery

Move to appropriate tropical local

Buy appropriate river, estuary

Buy scuba gear

Build beach house

Live happily ever after

Sorry, it started snowing yesterday. Always makes me want to head south.

It's too bad I wasn't into puffs when I lived in India. Oh well I guess I better go buy a shovel and maybe a ticket or two.
Stand tall, be brave, wait for the signs.

Even Louisiana would be worth a try:
