My LFS had some DPs in when I went to pick up my F8s. The tank had the tiniest little fry in I've ever seen! Everytime I've been since there's been more tiny little ones. They obviously have some horny little fish

Did you notice any different behavior of your DP's before you found the fry? Heres why...

I have 2 DP's in my community tank and I was certain that one of them had died and was eaten by the shrimp. One day when I got home he/she was simply GONE, nowhere to be found. I looked and looked for days and never saw more than one DP at a time. The 2 of them look sufficiently different and I was sure I was seeing the same one every time. Then a week later the other one magically reappears and is swimming around like nothing had ever happened.

Got any info for me about this?

Unfortunately not. At the time there were around 16 or so dp's in the tank and I had many many times when they would exhibit courtship behaviour. I believe having too many to 'interrupt' each pair was the reason the courtship was not successful. However some of them obviously made it but I never witnessed any of it.

Congrats on the baby dp's.....you must have a stimulating home for all those puffers  . Not too many people have had dp babies yet, it is getting more common to hear about it, but not real common from what I have seen.

haven't got any puffers (yet), but I'm already excited if my snails reproduce...

Congratulations!

(I hope I can achieve the same some day)

Ian, do you notice a certain time of year when the DPs would exibit courtship behavior, or is it fairly continuous?

I've heard reports of it only occuring certain times of the year.

I've done some more digging, and it seems that some people get DP fry every week for periods of time as long as 6 months, possibly longer.
