Finally hatched some after many clutches of eggs. Of course I wasn’t expecting them and they are tiny. I only have frozen daphnia and I doubt they’ll live long enough for a brine hatchery to come on board. I’m sure illl get more though.
Have any members bred these and if so what do they eat? (anything besides baby brine?)
I have video of the fry but it’s nice great and the pic files are too large.

Man I need some help, not puffer dry mocking me.
I threw in a ton of plants (Java moss, watersprite, cabomba) hoping maybe they’ll find some microfauna to eat. I feel terrible watching them starve to death. I’m going to get brine shrimp eggs tomorrow but I think too little too late. Any sources of food for these guys would be helpful…they’re so fricking cute shooting all over the tank.
Also do they have yolk for a while?

Maybe someone can answer this one. How long does it take for puffer fry to starve?
It’s been 3-4 days now. They’re not visibly eating anything. I’ve put a ton of plants in the tank, and baby brine which they ignore. I don’t know if they are eating microscopic organisms or living on fumes. They’re still alive and swimming around though…
Anyone?

I believe the yolk will last a day or two. I would think they need to be fed quite often after that. You should be able to buy some food that says it's for egg layers. Rearing the fry are much more difficult than getting them to breed.

Still alive today. I’m guessing they’re living on infusoria . They do not seem to be able to eat baby brine yet.

Also, found a dozen fry today in parents tank. Still alive but they seem skinny. Their tank is also planted so I guess they feed off of infusoria from the plants.

As an update, at the risk of talking to myself, the fry are doing well with baby brine and are now 2-3 mm long. The parents are starting to stir and I think they might spawn again soon. Don’t know what to do with all the fry…

Sorry for not following up. They’re about 1 cm long and there are 20-30 I think. They are all over the place and hard to count. Almost all are off the baby brine and eating blackworms and adult brine.
