Spotted Congo Puffer Spawning (Eggs) caught on video https://youtu.be/lYFjtxE20sk
June 22, 2018 - Walked into my fish room and caught my Spotted Congo Puffers breeding again. Just about 10 days after the last round and a tank full of little fry. Amazing action at 3:54 - the male beats the eggs right out of the female. Interesting note: I did a 30% water change the night before and the next day I noticed the male being very aggressive and attacking the two females all day long leading up to the spawn. After the first sign of eggs the female took the male into a large cave I have in the tank. It's half a clay pot with river rocks hiding it. Nine minutes later the male came out. 22 minutes later the female reappeared - super skinny. You'll see in the video that my other female is super full of eggs too so maybe another video soon. ----- Tank is a 75g gallon with 30 gallon sump (Live Plants, Malaysian driftwood, almond leaves, river rock.) Three Puffers - 1 male and 2 females Tank mates: 1 Ancistrus sp. (Bristlenose Pleco) and 30 Cherry Shrimp (the puffers have zero interest in eating them!?!) Night before breeding: • 30% water • water was remineralized RODI - 184 tds • water temp was 24.9 celsius • pH 7.40 • Ammonia 0 ppt • Nitrite 0 ppt • Nitrate 10-20 ppt (can't ever tell on the colors with the API tests) • KH 53.7 • GH 125.3 Night of Breeding (tested water right after) • water was remineralized RODI - 279 tds • water temp was 25.3 celsius • pH 7.40 • Ammonia 0 ppt • Nitrite 0 ppt • Nitrate 5-10 ppt (can't ever tell on the colors with the API tests) • KH 89.5 • GH 125.3

My male and second female breed yesterday. I saw and stopped my other female from eating eggs. She was all over them. I moved most of the eggs out to other tanks to do some "testing" on water parameters... This being the third spawn, I'm running out of tanks to put the over 100 fry. I plan on uploading videos of them each day to track the progress. Also if anyone is in the Phoenix area and interested in learning more about T. schoutedeni, send me a PM.

Thanks! At what point do you think they would be considered juveniles? 3 months?

Here is an updated video on one of the captive bred Tetraodon schoutedeni puffer groups I have. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sw136ovOw6w I'll be posting more soon as they are already double the size from this video in just two short weeks.

Most of them from this group have been sold off. But they have sooo many brothers and sisters from other spawnings. You can see them on instagram using the app or just on the web at instagram.com/prestonjohn

I know this is an old post. I recently got my Congo spotted puffers to release eggs and I siphoned the eggs into another 10 liter tank and I put airstone and heater in it. I searched a lot and could not find details on how big are the eggs. Becuade the eggs I collected are very small. They are whitish color and round and very small. Visible but small. Can you please tell me if these eggs are in reality this small?
