There is an extra fish in my GSP's tank?

Post by Kingsleys »

A few months ago I got my first puffer. His name is Einstein. He was my only fish, or so I thought. A few weeks after I got him there was a little fish in the tank with him. I think it was like a baby tetra or something which was really weird. I never bought it. It's was transparent and it's back was blue while the middle part was reddish. It was also a little bit of silver-gold. I just left it in there. A few days later it was gone. Was it really a tetra or could it have been a baby GSP? I don't think it was because he was not with any other puffers and they don't breed in captivity.

My guess is guppy. Lots of LFS try feeding them to puffers.

+1 to Pufferpunk's comments above - newly released guppy fry can be hard to spot and quite good at hiding. It grew (likely by eating puffer leftover fragments from puffer food) and then got eaten itself.
