New Suvatti

Post by DDR2 »

Picked up a new potato. I've decided to call him Magua. He's about 3-3 1/2" and much more active than Pogo, my Abei puffer. As soon as he hit the bottom he started stalking a ghost shrimp. He's also eating nightcrawlers.

That's great! Mine's about 5" & a total dud. Never moves.

Sometimes he sits still for a few minutes and changes colors or orientation to blend. Sometimes he comes to the front to beg. The rest of the time he's like a little hovercraft of death. Prowling and stalking.

i think having now kept a number of different puffers for a number of years, i can safely say that 'suvattis' are my fave of the 'ambush predator' puffers. They seem a lot more interactive than the humpback/twin spots/hairys in my experience, but i guess that varies fish to fish..

Awesome puff! @DDR2

What size tank you raising him in? Mine is pretty active and he makes good use of the 65B he is in. Way overkill, I know, but he is happy.

He's in a 29g at the moment. When my Abei gets moved from his 55g, he'll go there. Even in the 29, if he's not moving, it's like where's waldo! The Abei is at 7" and seems to still be growing(but can still disappear in there). So much for that 4.5"-5.5" max.
