BBGs are brackish fish.

Possibly but only in a very heavily-decorated tank, with lots of hiding spots. Dwarf puffers are serious nippers!

Otocinclus catfish are good options, people tend to have success with those.

I’m not sure I would go with gobi simply because I tried it and the gobi’s tail will certainly be nipped at. However, I have ember tetras that swim side by side with my dwarf puffers and have never had any issue. Also, I’ve seen flounder and dwarf crawfish get along with puffers in well planted 30+ gallon tanks. Hope that helps

Correct, not all BB goby are the brackish ones.

I have some BBee goby that are Asian freshwater.
I'm assuming they can have some of the normal API salt out of the box here and there.
Most fish can benefit from "some salt"....so they say.

As for Dwarf companions, I have witnessed amano shrimp and large ghost shrimp last a very long time with the Dwarf puffers.
There may have been eight DP in the tank maxiumum at the time.
The DP group is down to a solid 5 now.

Try an amano shrimp or similar.
