Got a second schoutedeni puffer and added him to my tank yesterday, they (the original puffer and the new guy) circled each other
just like dogs looking and checking each other out,,I dropped 2 snails in, the idea being one for each of them and then they started
going after each other,,,it looked rather violent to me,, they spent the night in seperate corners of the tanks,,,
how long shall I observe them and HOPE they get along toether before I pull the new guy out and put him in his own tank?
Tank is a 47 gallon bowfront planted, several tetras and 1 pleco
I have had the original puffer for 6 months now,,,I was hoping they would get along
any advice is appreciated

Remove both fish & completely redecorate the tank, putting the new puffer back in 1st.
You are getting sleepy... you only hear the sound of my voice... you must do water changes... water changes... water changes... water changes...

You did as I suggested? Can you post a full tank shot here?

Re: Got a second schoutedeni puffer,,,,they dont seem to get along!!
Had the same issues a few years ago when I tried to introduce a new schoutedeni into an established tank with only one original schoutedeni in it. The only thing that works in my experience is putting them in a "new" tank simultaneously. So would follow PP's advice about a complete redecoration etc...
Make sure that the redecorated tank provides tons of hiding spots and broken lines of sight. And plenty of food at first. They don't share well, unfortunately, dropping two snails in and expecting them to know that it's one for each of them isn't going to work.
